Steps To Suture Old Sibling/Step Sibling Injuries

Did your sibling or stepsibling really injure you as a kid? Years later is that wound still raw?

Sometimes siblings hurt us in childhood yet we were able to let that hurt go. But with some other brothers and sisters, especially step siblings –  injury turns into a lesion that festers way into midlife. If you are a person whose sibling wound has turned into an “I Hate You” story, there are steps you can take that will allow you to bring that encapsulated wound to the surface of your mind and expose it to the here and now.  The first step is writing down that old incident, as hard as that might be. Doing this will allow you to see the real problems in your sibling relationship. Understanding your sibling story will:

  • Give you insight into harmful behavior a sibling committed long ago
  • Allow you to avoid being vulnerable to that behavior in the present
  • Help you protect yourself in future relationships with siblings
  • Identify where you are stuck in your relationship with your sibling
  • Move you towards forgiveness

This beginning sibling step will allow you to:

– Put Your Pain on Paper

– Be in the Here and Now and Care for Yourself

– Break the Old Family Rules About Siblings or Step Siblings

– Put Yourself in Their Old Shoes

– Expose the Wound to the Here and Now

– Tell Your Story to Your Sibling or Step Sibling

If you want to take steps to resolve sibling or step sibling age-old wounds, give this a try
